Kidwelly to Ferryside: 5.7 miles (9.2km) +204m -198m (25 September 2015)

We all met up at the Quay in Kidwelly and set off for a short walk to Ferryside. We walked in and then out of Kidwelly to be faced with the only climb of the day up to the village of Llansaint. The path then took us across rolling farmland until we came to Ferryside.

From here we could see across the River Towy to Llanstffan, a distance of 0.7 miles. Unfortunately we couldn’t walk straight across, we had a further two days walking and 17 miles to get to that same spot.

We then drove into Carmarthen and the Boars Head Hotel where we would all be staying for the weekend.

Ferryside to Johnstown: 9.8 miles (15.7km) +248m -246m (26 September 2015)

The next two days would be just walking up and down the River Towy from Ferryside to Llansteffan. The walk today had some wonderful views over the river but also some hard climbing.

Eventually we arrived at Carmarthen but this wasn’t the end of our walk, we still had a short distance to go down the river the Johnstown Leisure Centre where the cafe was closed. What’s new!

Johnstown to Llansteffan: 8.0 miles (12.9km) +196m -202m (27 September 2015)

We were finally walking back to the coast but we wouldn’t be seeing it for a few miles yet. It seemed a long trek across farmland until we arrived at Llansteffan where, for a change, the cafe was open and we could have a cup of tea before starting our journey home.
