12-16 September 2016: Tre’r-ddol to Llwyngwril – Part 2
Pennal to Machynlleth: 4.7 miles (7.6km) +322m -314m (13 September 2016)
I decided that this walk would be easier if we walked back to the hotel. This meant a late departure as the bus to Pennal didn’t leave Machynlleth until 10:15.
The walk started along a road which then led up through woodland to Foel Goch where we had lunch during a short rain shower. From there the path led steeply down to the main road and on into Machynlleth. As we crossed the Dovey river bridge there was a lot of activity by the rescue services. Evidently an elderly lady went missing a few days earlier and they were searching for her in the river. I’m not sure if she was found.
On the way back to the hotel we called in at the railway station to purchase tickets for Thursday.
We were in Machynlleth by 2pm and we all had plans for the afternoon but most of us just stayed around the town.
