6-9 April 2017: Miniffordd to Pentowyn Dunes – Part 5
Pentowyn Dunes to Abersoch: 8.3 miles (13.3km) +454m -466m (9 April 2017)
I decided that rather than finish our 4 days walking in the middle of nowhere, we would do today’s walk in reverse, finishing in Abersoch where we could get some celebratory refreshments. So, as the previous day, we parked in Abersoch but this time the mini bus took us to Pentowyn Dunes.
We walked down to the beach which is known as Hell’s Mouth as there is known to be at least 30 wrecks along this 4 miles shoreline. Crossing the open heath of Mynydd Cilan took us to the southern tip Trwyn Cilan headland. From here we continued for most of the day around the headland before dropping down to Machroes and back to Abersoch along a gravel road by the golf course.
