12-16 September 2016: Tre’r-ddol to Llwyngwril – Part 4
Llwyngwril to Aberdovey: 12.0 miles (19.3km) +286m -310m (15 September 2016)
After three days of late starts, today we had to be out early to catch the 08:52 train from Machynlleth to Llwyngwril. The train took about 45 minutes and we were walking by 9:45.
When we arrived at the station it was decked out with bunting and other decorations – all knitted. Further into the village we found even more, including this knitted troll sitting on a bridge.
On leaving the Llwyngwril we had a very steep uphill section for about 30-40 minutes. After we had all recovered at the top, the walk continued through undulating farmland. At Rhoslefain the path stated to loose height and we found ourselves walking next to the train tracks.
Lunch was taken next to a new footbridge crossing the Aber Dysynni. Without this bridge we would have a to detour inland for many miles.
From here the walk continued next to the railway until we got to Tywyn. We then crossed the railway to get to the promenade. The remainder of the walk was along the prom and beach to Aberdovey. We then caught the bus back to Machynlleth.
