12-15 May 2016: Aberaeron to Ynyslas and Tre’r-ddol – Part 1
For our second weekend of the year we plan to complete the Ceredigion Coast Path from Aberaeron to Ynyslas. Part of the path north of Borth isn’t on the Wales Coast Path but we will do it anyway just to complete this way-marked trail.
The Wales Coast Path section from Borth to Machynlleth is nearly 15 miles with no easy mid break point. This would be too far for us in a day, so to start the weekend we walked from Tre’r-ddol to Borth. As a result in September we would start with a walk of under 10 miles to Machynlleth.
Tre’r-ddol to Borth: 4.5 miles (7.2km) +33m -56m (12 May 2016)
We all met up in Borth, and after a picnic lunch on the promenade we caught two buses to Tre’r-ddol. By 2pm we were walking out of the village and along the side of the main road leading to Tre Taliesin. Here we left the road and found the footpath that led across the edge of the Dyfi Nature Reserve.
The path was flat and not very interesting and after about 90 minutes walking we came to the church at Morfa Borth. Outside the cemetery fence was a line of gravestones. On closer examination we saw that they were for dogs.

Lucky wasn’t very lucky – or his successors
A few minutes later we were back in Borth at the point where the coast path leaves the coast and heads east towards Machynlleth.
We found our cars and drove to the Marine Hotel in Aberystwyth where all 16 of us would be staying for the next four nights.
Thank you, nice river picture. D
